CAP COM, Foundation Launch Infrastructure Grant Initiative

ALBANY, N.Y.– CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, have launched the CAP COM Cares Foundation Infrastructure Grant Initiative.

The new program formalizes the CAP COM Cares Foundation’s commitment to be a strong community partner and support projects that nonprofits often find difficult to fund. Some examples of projects that inspired the initiative include building repairs, the installation of a septic system, computer software updates and equipment funding. These projects are vital for organizations to serve their constituents but can be delayed or unaddressed due to a lack of resources, the credit union said.

The CAP COM Cares Foundation is dedicating $50,000 in 2021 to these efforts, with a goal of supporting 10 organizations with a $5,000 grant. Additional funding may be considered on a case-by-case basis as determined by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Grant recipients will be announced and celebrated in May.

The infrastructure grant initiative allows CAP COM to support challenging projects with existing nonprofit partners while opening the door for new relationships, CAP COM said. A recent grant to Family and Child Services of Schenectady County serves as an excellent example of this. The Foundation was able to support the purchase of a new software program that was needed to continue serving their clients.

“We are thrilled to introduce the Infrastructure Grant Initiative and celebrate our long history of standing strong with our nonprofit partners in times of need,” stated Becky Daniels, Director of Community Engagement, CAP COM Federal Credit Union. “The mission of our CAP COM Cares Foundation it to nurture our community through support of local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of families in the Capital Region. We can’t wait to celebrate the recipients of this new program.”
