Bragg Mutual CU Performs Random Acts of Thanksgiving

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – With the arrival of the season of giving, Bragg Mutual Federal Credit Union said it chose a unique opportunity to support the Fayetteville, Spout Springs, and Kenansville communities through what the credit union called Random Acts of Thanksgiving.

The credit union said it hoped to support people in those communities for Thanksgiving by offering to pay for their groceries in the form of gift cards at Food Lion locations in Kenansville, Spout Springs, Skibo Drive, Hope Mills, and the Westwood Shopping Center.

Although the recipients were chosen at random, the impact was not.

“We gave away over $3,000 in gift cards and got a lot of smiles back,” said President and CEO Steve Foley. “It’s the season of giving and that’s what we hope to accomplish — to give a gift. But we received back more than we gave in the form of smiles, stories, appreciation, and friendship. It was a humbling and heartwarming experience to help our members and community members alike.”

“This was indeed a wonderful experience and it made me feel very proud to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community,” added Natasha Cannon, a teler at Bragg Mutual’s Kenansville Branch. “My heart was touched as individuals shared their personal stories and expressions. I’m already looking forward to this Random Act of Thanksgiving next year.”
