BECU Names Chima EVP, CIO

SEATTLE -- BECU has named Fumbi Chima as its executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO), following Tom Morgan’s retirement in July. Chima leads the credit union’s technology (IT) division, overseeing technology strategy, information security and IT operations for its nearly 2,500 employees and over 1.2 million members. Chima joins BECU with more than 25 years of leadership and technology experience in both the retail and financial sectors, including roles at Fox Network Group, Burberry, Walmart Asia, American Express and JP Morgan Chase. Most recently, she served as chief information officer at adidas in Germany, where she led a customer-centric digital transformation, creating and operating a renowned and agile digital foundation. “Fumbi brings a depth of experience and leadership to BECU that will help us deliver on our purpose and ensure we’re meeting our members’ ever evolving financial needs and expectations,” said Benson Porter, BECU’s president and chief executive officer. “She believes that technology and innovation go hand-in-hand, and has demonstrated an ability to inspire and accelerate these priorities under her leadership.”
