Avadian Wins Louise Herring Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Avadian Credit Union has won the 2022 Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award for credit unions in the state of Alabama.

“The philosophy behind the credit union movement is ‘people helping people,’” said Linda Cencula, Avadian’spresident and CEO, “so we are beyond delighted to receive the Philosophy in Action Award.”

Avadian was recognized for its efforts in opening a new branch in the midtown area of Birmingham, creating a more member-friendly overdraft policy, and launching a home improvement loan.

“These projects were undertaken with our members in mind,” said Jeff Skipper, AVP-marketing and digital experience. “Our Midtown branch offers a technology-first experience in a setting that fosters openness and comfort. We changed our overdraft policy so that members were assessed a fee only on transactions that result in a negative balance of more than $10.00. The home improvement loan was created so members couldtackle home improvement projects more quickly than through the process of a typical home equity line of credit.”
