BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Avadian Credit Union announced a number of contributions to organizations that serve Alabama communities.
“Making an impact in the community is an important part of who we are,” said Linda Cencula, Avadian president and CEO. “We are delighted to be able to give back to the amazing organizations that are doing such wonderful work in our communities.”
Leading up to Thanksgiving, Avadian said it committed to donate funds to provide Thanksgiving meals at the Jimmie Hale Mission in Birmingham based on engagement on social media. Based on likes, comments, and shares, Avadian provided 300 meals.
A competition across Avadian branches allowed top-performing branches to choose which organizations they would support. The competition resulted in donations of more than $12,000 to local charities, including The Jimmie Hale Mission, the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, Love in Action, Hueytown Methodist Church’s Feeding Families, Hargis Christian Camp, Community Kitchens of Birmingham, Children’s Village of Birmingham, Jessie’s Place, and the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.
Additionally, the Vernon branch made a donation to the Furnace Restaurant to assist its community Thanksgiving meal earlier in November.
