PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga.–Associated Credit Union has announced the winner of its first annual grand prize as part of its new PRO$PER Savings Account.
The first winner of the prize-linked savings promotion, drawn at random, was John S., a newer member who found ACU while seeking some financial help during the COFID-19 pandemic. John was awarded the annual grand prize of $9,999.
“I found ACU after I had been furloughed for five weeks and needed a way to save a little extra money,” said John. “This couldn’t have come at a better time and I just really appreciate everything.”
In 2020, the PRO$PER Savings Account gave members the chance to be rewarded for making smart financial decisions. The more the member saved, the higher their chances were to win the monthly $99 drawing, the quarterly $999 drawing, or the annual $9,999 prize. Every dollar the member saved is theirs to keep, so saving is only seen as an incentive.
“This account was launched in response to a statistic from the Federal Reserve stating that 40% of Americans don’t have $400 in the bank for emergency expenses,” said Lin Hodges, CEO of Associated Credit Union. “We knew we needed to do something that would help combat this for our membership, and give them a way to afford those unexpected moments.”
