SUITLAND, Md.— Andrews Federal Credit Union has launched "Make It My Life: Real World Money Empowerment Experience," a new financial literacy initiative designed to help high school students build practical money management and life skills. Funded through credit union foundation grants, the inaugural program will serve 10 students from communities served by the credit union.
The four-session program combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning focused on budgeting, credit, fraud prevention, financial responsibility, career development and other real-world financial topics. Andrews Federal said the curriculum is intended to help students make informed financial decisions as they prepare for adulthood.
"Our credit union team designed this program to give young people the knowledge and confidence to take control of their financial futures," Chief Operating Officer Damita Robinson said. "As students complete the program, they will gain both practical skills they can use immediately and a stronger understanding of how today's financial decisions can shape tomorrow's opportunities."
Throughout the program, students will learn directly from Andrews Federal professionals, who will share career insights while leading discussions on financial wellness, risk management, fraud prevention and everyday money management. The credit union said the initiative reflects its commitment to preparing young people for long-term financial success.
