Americas's Christian CU Employees Volunteer Time

GLENDORA, Calif.— America’s Christian Credit Union (ACCU) reported that during November its employees volunteered their time and given generously at a variety of events around Southern California.

At the beginning of the month, ACCU employees volunteered at the San Bernardino County Courthouse to participate in the county’s Adoption Day event, during which 65 adoptions were finalized. Ten staff members spent the day celebrating with the soon-to-be families as they patiently waited to make their families official.

The following day, at its Glendora headquarters, ACCU hosted its annual ADOPT ("A Day Of Prayer Together") event. Employees joined together to celebrate and pray for the families that ACCU has assisted over the past year. They were blessed by a personal visit from the Harris family, one of more than 100 families that ACCU, through its transformative adoption loan program, has assisted over the past year.

ACCU also partnered with Together We Rise (TWR), a non-profit organization that works to enhance the experience of foster youth, to provide “Sweet Cases” to foster children. The TWR Sweet Cases are duffel bags filled with toiletries, a blanket, coloring book and a teddy bear. These durable bags provide foster children, most of whom would otherwise use a flimsy, disposable trash bag, a place to keep their belongings as they travel from home to home. The Sweet Cases were donated to Ettie Lee Youth & Family Services in Baldwin Park to distribute to foster children they serve.

As Thanksgiving approached, ACCU employees continued to focus their attention on providing for those in need. They participated in Glendora Community Coordinating Council's Annual Holiday Basket Program, donating non-perishable goods to local food banks. Many also volunteered at the LA Dream Center's Annual Thanksgiving Turkey giveaway, where they helped Pastor Matthew Barnett and his team distribute frozen turkeys and other food items (mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberries) to families in need this holiday season.

President/CEO Mendell Thompson exclaimed, "Our staff is always looking for opportunities to give back and volunteer in the local community. It is a part of our corporate culture. I’m proud that our staff continued to live out our mission and demonstrate their community spirit and their giving hearts."
