EAST HARTFORD, Conn.– Employees of American Eagle Financial Credit Union celebrated National Cybersecurity Awareness Month with a series of internal and external programs. Employees participated in a series of events that reinforced the month's theme of "Be a Cyberhero."
The campaign raised awareness of basic cybersecurity responsibilities, including how to outsmart cyber criminals and protect oneself from phishing attacks. The program included specially-designed badges, cybersecurity awareness posters displayed throughout American Eagle facilities, a special cybersecurity newsletter, daily cybersecurity tips sent via email and a cybersecurity video.
Externally, American Eagle hosted a free "Lunch & Learn" for members to learn about financial fraud targeting the elderly. Presented by Kathleen Titsworth, outreach coordinator from the Connecticut Department of Banking, the forum addressed issues such as grandparent scams, government imposter scams, caregiver abuse and investment fraud.
Separately, NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood visited the credit union’s headquarters. Hood was a guest speaker at the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) Connecticut Executive Forum in Rocky Hill, Conn. The event was sponsored by NASCUS, the Connecticut Department of Banking, and the Credit Union League of Connecticut.
