GLENDORA, Calif.— Closing out the final chapter on the Patriot Week festivities that it hosted, America’s Christian Credit Union (ACCU) delivered a check in the amount of $700 to American Legion Riders – Chapter 835.
Accepting on behalf of the American Legion Riders (ALR) was head of the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Chapter 835, Dennis Navarre. The funds were raised in recent weeks through the combination of a restaurant fundraiser at Chili’s Glendora, an ACCU contribution from each new “Patriot Term Share Certificate” account opened during the Patriot Week promotional period; and several direct donations from ACCU staff members.
Navarre, who was the special honored guest throughout the May 23-25 PatriotWeek events at ACCU, was delighted to return to the Credit Union’s Glendora headquarters, but this time to be on the receiving end of a special presentation. The $700 donated toward his organization, which honors veterans and servicemembers in a wide variety of ways, was presented by ACCU President/CEO, Mendell L. Thompson.
“We strive to honor our veterans and servicemembers week in and week out, and it’s gratifying when an organization like ACCU notices our work and rewards us in this way,” commented Navarre. “Thank you, Mr. Thompson, for this donation, which will go directly into additional services for the veterans that we serve.”
Camaraderie was spirit of the moment as Thompson responded, “We applaud the tremendous work that you and your organization perform, without fanfare, on behalf of our nation’s greatest heroes. We are pleased to show our support for your patriotic and dedicated service to the community of veterans, active servicemembers and their families.”
