America First Staff Participate in Race for the CURE

LAS VEGAS–America First Credit Union sponsored a team of employees to walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Downtown Las Vegas as part of its Greater Good employee volunteer program.

The event is designed to serve as an educational and fundraising experience, while celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lost their battle with breast cancer. The event consisted of a 5K run, 5K walk and a one mile “fun run/walk,” along with guest speakers and an award ceremony. America First employees participated in the spirited event and even posed with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman.
In keeping with the credit union philosophy of people helping people, The Greater Good program offers a planned, managed framework with the goal of motivating and enabling employees to effectively volunteer under the leadership of America First. Quarterly activities are focused on specific areas of need and benefit a nonprofit organization, school, or municipality.

This year, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Las Vegas raised more than $157,000 to help fund preventative and patient programs. Susan G. Komen Nevada was established on March 16, 2016, formed by the union of northern and southern Nevada Susan G. Komen affiliates. Komen Nevada is an independent, local non-profit organization, dedicated to combating breast cancer. Komen Nevada has been raising funds and support Nevada communities for over 21 years and has raised more than $11.2 million for local education, screening and treatment programs.
