SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – America First Credit Union has 32,733 diapers to the Utah Diaper Bank.
The diapers, which were delivered by America First Credit Union employees and were collected and donated by credit union staff and members over the past few weeks. The credit union said it is hoping its donation raises awareness of a critical need faced by many Utah families – the need for diapers for babies.
According to data from The NDBN Diaper Check 2023: Diaper Insecurity among U.S. Children and Families, half of all U.S. families cannot afford enough diapers to keep their infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. These babies are more vulnerable to painful rashes and urinary tract infections and have more trips to the doctor. Three in five parents miss work or school because they can’t afford the diapers required to leave their baby in childcare, the data show.
“Too many Utah families are struggling to make ends meet, especially when they have young children that need food, clothing and diapers,” said Thayne Shaff, America First Credit Union president and CEO. “We cannot express enough gratitude to our staff and members who have contributed to our diaper drive with Utah Diaper Bank to support our local families in need and provide a critical resource to our communities.”
