Altura Supports Bike Ride for Education

RIVERSIDE, Calif.–  Volunteers from Altura Credit Union handed out refreshments to bicyclists participating in the 7th Annual Riverside Citrus Classic Bike Ride for Education, which consists of 100-, 50-, 28- and 7-mile rides, as well as a bike ride for kids.

The event raises money for the Riverside Educational Enrichment Foundation (REEF) and the Alvord Education Foundation. Both foundations support classroom education opportunities in the Riverside Unified and Alvord Unified school districts in Riverside County. The Citrus Ride has raised as much as $20,000 in the past.

Altura was a primary sponsor for the event, which also includes live music, food, vendors and entertainment.  All the rides begin at the Riverside Plaza and include bike paths, bike trails and scenic highways in and around Riverside. As its name implies, a portion of Riverside’s scenic citrus belt is included in all the routes.

Volunteers, like those from Altura, staff booths along the routes to supply water and snacks for bicyclists of all ages.  Altura, with its history as a credit union for school employees, said it has always been a supporter of education-related causes.
