Altura Named Outstanding Co. For Women; Board Chair, 2 Employees Honored

RIVERSIDE, Calif.– Altura Credit Union was recently honored as the 2017 “Outstanding Company for Women” by Hispanic Lifestyle magazine at its annual Latina Conference. Additionally, in separate events, Board Chairman Ofelia Valdez-Yeager, Altura Vice President Tina Covington, and Security & Records Manager Tanya Price were honored for their contributions to the community.

According to Hispanic Lifestyle, Altura was selected as the Outstanding Company for Women in part because of its participation in and sponsorship of numerous women’s organizations and causes in the local community, saying it is a visible way for Altura to demonstrate its accountability and authenticity for gender inclusion. 

Additionally, Altura was cited for its outstanding record of female participation in the workplace: 

  • · 72% of Altura’s Workforce are Women
  • · 67% of its Managers are Women
  • · 60% of its Executive Management Team are Women
  • · Altura’s CEO is a woman, Jennifer Binkley
  • · Women hold three of the four officer positions on Altura’s volunteer Board of Directors, which is chaired by a woman, Ofelia Valdez-Yeager.

“At Altura we recognize that female leadership is vital for organizations like ours that want to achieve and succeed,” said Jennifer Binkley, Altura president and CEO. “We are committed to encouraging female leadership and fostering gender equality in our workplace. Separately, Chairwoman of Altura’s Board of Directors Ofelia Valdez-Yeager recently received the President’s Award from the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce at its annual Inaugural Celebration.  Altura Vice President of Business Development Tina Covington was honored as the Volunteer of the Year at the same event, which was attended by more than 700 business and community leaders recently.

As part of Women’s History Month, California Assemblyman Jose Medina named Tanya Price, Altura Security and Records Manager, a Woman of Distinction Award winner for the 61st Assembly District. She was among 20 women honored by the local assemblyman for their “significant contribution to the community” and serving as a role model for young women in the district.
