RIVERSIDE, Calif.–Employees from Altura Credit Union recently helped teams of high school students in their bid for academic recognition at the 34th Annual Riverside Academic Decathlon.
For the eighth consecutive year, a team of Altura employees volunteered as proctors for the Super Quiz portion of the Riverside County Office of Education’s academic decathlon, which takes place over two weekends.
Teams of nine students compete in written tests, speeches, interviews, essays and the Super Quiz. This year 22 teams from 18 high school from throughout Riverside County participated.
The event’s finale, a college bowl-style Super Quiz, is the only portion of the decathlon open to the public.
Elsinore High School in Wildomar took first place in the competition, while West Valley High School in Hemet placed first in the Super Quiz. Elsinore will go on to represent Riverside County at the state level in March.
