ALPENA, Mich.–Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) team members recently gave back to their communities in a number of ways.
Staff volunteered with Operation Polar Drop, which was organized by CPA Stuart Wilson. He partnered with the Food Bank of Northeast Michigan to purchase eight shipping containers packed with over 2,000 pounds of food each to be distributed at various locations throughout Northeast Michigan. Stuart also collaborated with United Way of Northeast Michigan and Feed the Need Alpena to help spread the word and organize the event.
Nine AAACU team members volunteered their time at Operation Polar Drop to help distribute food to those in need. Team members assisted in passing out fresh fruit, produce, and meat along with boxed and canned food items.
Separately, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) was proud to be a sponsor and participate in Alpena’s Downtown Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Michigan State Police and WATZ.
Trunk or Treat is a fun event that allows local businesses and community members the opportunity to park a vehicle in the parking lot behind City Hall in downtown Alpena and have them decorate for Halloween. The event continues to grow each year with over 50 local businesses and organizations participating.
AAACU turned its trunk into the credit union drive-thru window with team members and Dollar Dog, AAACU kids club mascot passing out festive water bottles to nearly 1,000 children.
In addition, AAACU) team members recently volunteered their time at Oscoda High Schools 7th annual Volley for a Cure against the Hale Eagles.
Team members helped collected raffle ticket money, sold 50/50 tickets, and aided in the bake sale during the evening helping to raise $10,894 to support the Ascension St. Joseph Hospital Infusion room.
In addition to team members volunteering their time, AAACU also donated pink volleyballs that were tossed in the stand for those in attendance.
