Alpena Alcona Area CU Raies Funds, Supports Causes

ALPENA, Mich.–Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union raised money for the local Boys & Girls Club, had a member win in the Save to Win promotion, and also supported Money Smart Week.

AAACU raised $3,001.07 in monetary donations for the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. The Boys and Girls Club of Alpena is open year-round providing programs and activities to area youth ages 6-18 that aid in developing skill sets to help them succeed in life. Funds donated will be used towards their meal program that provides lunch, dinner, and a snack to club members. 

Along with member donations, our Alpena Main and Alpena North Branch team members sold candy bars, held various raffles, and donated $2 per employee to dress down on Fridays to help raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. 

Separately,John Briggs won $5,000, simply for saving money at AAACU by participating in the Save to Win program, which made him eligible for prizes ranging from $25 to $5,000 for every $25 deposited in his Save to Win account. 

Designed to help low-to-moderate income members build their savings, the Save to Win program has helped more than 22,000 account holders in 13 states save over $48 million year to date. The program allows participating credit union members to make deposits in $25 increments into a special share certificate, where they can earn interest and be automatically entered into monthly and quarterly drawings for chances to win cash prizes. 

Save to Win is administered by CU Solutions Group, an affiliate of the Michigan

Credit Union League. 

Finally, Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) recently participated in Money Smart Weekto help promote healthy financial habits with thousands of FIs holding events across the country. 

AAACU’s Lincoln Branch hosted a read along for young savers to attend at Alcona Public Library. Team member Stacey Hall read a book to children and held a craft activity for children to paint piggy banks.
