Allied FCU Supports 'Socktober'

ARLINGTON, Texas–Allied Federal Credit Union donated nearly 300 pairs of socks and $530 to Mission Arlington through its participation in “Socktober.”

This national movement calls on Americans across the country to donate new socks to local shelters and other organizations that work with homeless. This year marks the second year AlliedFCU has participated in “Socktober.”

“As a member of the local community, it’s important for AlliedFCU to make a positive difference in the lives of people who call Arlington home – especially people in need,” said AlliedFCU CEO Tonia Clark. “Socks are the items least donated to shelters, and the items which often have the greatest impact on people’s health. They don’t just keep feet warm and dry. They protect feet from germs and bacteria, which becomes a greater need for people living in shelters or on the streets. This is a good opportunity for us to remind the community that sometimes doing just a little bit can go a long way.”

The decision for AlliedFCU to participate in “Socktober” again this year was made by an employee-based committee which helps manage AlliedFCU’s Casual for a Cause program. The program gives credit union employees an opportunity to pay for dressing casually at work. The money collected supports a different local cause each month.
