Allied FCU Supports Poverty Awareness Month

ARLINGTON, Texas–Allied Federal Credit Union employees recently recognized Poverty Awareness Month by donating boxes of cereal and $334.95 to Harvesting in Mansfield.

Harvesting in Mansfield (HIM) is a local nonprofit that provides nourishment to families struggling with food insecurity. As part of its servantship to the community, HIM also supplies area programs and schools with food for children, and provides food to stock local churches and other area food banks.

AlliedFCU staff made the donations to HIM as part of their Casual for a Cause program. Casual for a Cause allows CU employees to dress casually at work in exchange for donations that are made to local causes selected by an internal committee monthly. The committee selected HIM for their similar servitude to the communities in which AlliedFCU also serves.

“The thought of anyone going hungry is devastating, but especially children,” said Stephanie Rivera, area manager of Allied Federal Credit Union. “I’m so happy we were able to give not only food to local kids this month, but a little bit of hope too.”
