TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) and CUNA have named Alabama Credit Union as the winner of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award in the more than $1 billion asset-size category in the state.
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award encourages and honors credit union involvement in community projects and activities.
“CEO Steve Swofford and the team at Alabama Credit Union are proof that the credit union philosophy of people helping people is front and center in the state of Alabama,” said Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “Alabama Credit Union created the Secret Meals program to help low-income families with nutritional gaps they may face over the weekend. As some students only receive breakfast and lunch during the school week, this program ensures students have something to eat even when they are not in school.”
