ST. PAUL, Minn.– Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union and the Learning and Development team were recently recognized at the CUNA Experience Learning Live! and CUNA ELLy Awards. The CUNA ELLy Awards are an opportunity to showcase take-charge training styles an ideas that drive credit unions forward.
The team was awarded the 2019 CUNA Training WOW Award. The WOW Award is presented to the best overall training program or event, one that inspires learning, teaches skills that go beyond the classroom and leaves participants empowered. The Affinity Plus Learning and Development team won the award for its outstanding training program created for the Journey Beyond in 2018.
“I am incredibly proud of the Learning and Development team and the work that they invested into building the curriculum and facilitating the training for our entire organization during our core conversion,” said Julie Cosgrove, SVP-human resources at Affinity Plus. “Affinity Plus is committed to investing in our employees and building both their technical and professional skill sets. This award showcases the caliber of training that our trainers are creating, resulting in even stronger performance outcomes between our employees and members.”
What exactly is Journey Beyond? Throughout 2018, Affinity Plus said it upgraded more than a half-dozen core systems, including its core banking systems, online banking experience, mobile app and rewards program. To support it, Cosgrove’s team activated 12 trainers, 67 trainees, 8 weeks of flight school, and 28,000 hours of training for 575 employees in strategic waves throughout the year.
The components included:
- Flight Prep: prepared Crew members for in-person training through on-demand overview videos.
- Flight School: brought employees together from across the organization for in-person training.
- Maintaining Flight Ready: through practice, on-demand training resources and right-time communication.
