ST. PAUL, Minn.–Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union has completed an ongoing effort to raise money for hurricane, tropical storm and wildfire relief with nearly $5,500 from member and staff contributions.
Affinity Plus pledged to match all contributions, so the total from the Affinity Plus community is $11,000, officials said.
All donations have been sent to CUAid – an online disaster-relief system coordinated by the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF).
In September, as the first hurricane struck the Gulf-Coast region of Texas, Affinity Plus joined other credit unions to raise funds and assist. As more natural disasters struck there, in the western United States and Puerto Rico, the fundraising effort broadened to include all, the credit union said.
“It was a very difficult year for a lot of people in those locations,” said Dave Larson, Affinity Plus president/CEO. “We were proud to be part of a nation-wide effort to help our fellow credit union members there.”
