MARION, Ind.– Afena Federal Credit Union donated a total of $5,800 to local non-profit organizations on Giving Tuesday, thanks to a little help from its employees. On Tuesday morning, the CU announced that it was making three $1,000 donations to three Grant County non-profits to support their work in the community.
The first $1,000 donation was given to the Boys and Girls Club of Grant County in support of the work they do to provide a safe and supportive environment that enables and inspires Grant County youth to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The second $1,000 donation went to Circles of Grant County, a non-profit working to break the cycle of generational poverty by equipping families with the resources and support to shift their trajectory and get out of poverty. The third $1,000 was donated to Thriving Grant County, a collective impact working to address some of Grant County’s most complex social issues and create sustainable and lasting change.
The CU also announced a special employee giving initiative to celebrate Giving Tuesday. Every Afena staff member received $100 to donate to a local non-profit of their choice and creating an additional $2,800 of collective donations going to support Grant County organizations.
“Our employees are incredibly generous and many donate a small portion of their paycheck each week to support the Credit Union’s charitable initiatives such as our ‘Drop Your Drawers’ program,” said President/CEO Karen Madry. “This year, we wanted to make sure that everyone on our team was able to participate in Giving Tuesday and make a donation to a local non-profit that has touched their heart or made a difference in their lives. “We are so proud to be a part of the Grant County community and to support the incredible work of our local non-profits. It takes a village to make an impact, and we are grateful to be a part of this village.”
