OSHTEMO, Mich.–Advia Credit Union has been named a Silver-Level Employer for Veterans by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA).
The MVAA recognizes employers who show a commitment to veterans through hiring and retention practices. The Silver-Level Employer Award is given to companies that have made key efforts to employ veterans and provide a supportive and inclusive work environment.
“On behalf of Advia, we are truly honored and humbled to receive this recognition,” said Advia President & CEO Jeff Fielder. “This acknowledgement is a testament to our commitment to hiring and supporting veterans in our communities. We would like to thank the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency and the Veteran-Friendly Employer Program for recognizing our efforts and for their work in supporting veterans throughout Michigan.”
Advia said it has demonstrated its commitment to veteran hiring by implementing programs and initiatives designed to support veterans throughout the employment process. These include an Employee Veteran Connector that links any Advian veteran with the various contacts and resources the MVAA has to offer. Further, job postings are regularly publicized on veteran friendly job boards, which automatically put the jobs in an app called "WhyMI."
This veteran friendly app breaks Michigan up into sections and shows individuals information to help in their job search, ACU explained.
“It’s an honor when veterans choose Advia,” said Fielder. “Veterans bring a unique and valuable set of skills to the workplace, such as leadership, teamwork, and attention to detail. These are all assets that help to better serve our members and are traits Advia looks for in our employees. Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices for our country. We are proud to help provide the support when they transition to the civilian workforce. As an organization and team, we become stronger as a result."
