BROWNSTOWN, Mich.– To celebrate the start of summer, Advantage One Credit Union and the Brownstown Downtown Development Authority co-hosted a Summer Kickoff Celebration at the Brownstown Event Center. Admission and most attractions were free to attendees, providing a fun night out for families of the downriver community.
During the event, attendees were able to shop at the local vendors market, have their pictures taken with PAWS of the Detroit Tigers, be entered into a free drawing for Toledo Mud Hens tickets. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and free hot dogs, relaxed to the musical stylings of Ryan Jay, Jon Howard and Carly Collura Evans (three local artists) and visited the free kid’s area for face painting, balloon twisting and a turn or two in the bounce house.
On top of all the exciting things to do, there were also many vendors there to help raise money for local charities, the credit union said.
The Brownstown Animal Shelter and Woodhaven-Brownstown Rotary sold refreshments to raise money for their organizations, Advantage One held a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going to Victory Gym and Easy Pick Mini Mart donated the proceeds from beer and wine sales to the Brownstown Honor Guard. Total funds raised topped $1,000.
“We had a great night!” Said Jessica Workman, Business Development Director at Advantage One. “The rain held off, we had a great turn out and we were able to raise money for some great downriver organizations. We definitely hope to partner with the BDDA again next summer!”
