Advantage One Awards Grant to Teacher

NEW BOSTON, Mich.–Advantage One Credit Union presented $500 grant to Tiffany Shastal, a teacher at Huron High here. Shastal qualified for the grant by taking part in Advantage One’s Banzai program, which brings financial literacy to students in the classroom.

Teachers who actively participated in the program were invited to write a short essay stating what they would do with $500.00 for their classroom. All submissions were then voted on by a panel of Advantage One employees.

Shastal plans to use the funds to assist in purchasing personal finance software in order to enhance all that the students learn through the Banzai program. The software would simulate real life situations so students get a better grasp on real life situations.

“This type of software would help the students understanding of the procedures of accounting for their personal accounts or for a company and future job,” said Shastal. Needless to say, she was very excited to receive the email from Advantage One, letting her know her essay was the winning submission.
