DUNEDIN, Fla. – Achieva Credit Union has awarded $15,000 in scholarships to 12 college-bound graduates. In addition to Achieva’s annual program of 10 $1,000 scholarships, the credit union also awarded two $2,500 Hugh “Max” Kriever Memorial Scholarships to two students who will be majoring in education, in memory of the former Chairman of the Board for Achieva.
“Awarding Achieva scholarships each year is one of our most important and gratifying programs,” said Gary Regoli, CEO of Achieva Credit Union. “These scholarships are well deserved, and my congratulations go to each one of these dedicated students.” Representatives of Achieva’s board and leadership team spoke to the graduates at a special luncheon in honor of all scholarship recipients, encouraging them to maintain a strong work ethic, pursue their dreams with integrity and focusing on having a positive impact on their community, the credit union said.
Applicants were evaluated based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, community involvement and goals for the future. Their answers to an essay question regarding effective money management and financial literacy as related to community impact were also taken into consideration.
