ATLANTA–Atlanta Postal Credit Union’s Muscogee County branch recently helped WTVM News Leader 9 to collect more than 5,500 pounds of food--roughly 4,492 meals--for those in need in the Chattahoochee Valley area.
WTVM worked with APCU as well as with Sons Chevrolet of Columbus and Sons Ford Lincoln of Auburn to conduct this spring-time food drive. The event culminated with a One-Day Drive Through Drop-off hosted by WTVM.
Donations benefitted the Foodbank of East Alabama and Feeding the Valley Food Bank. Feeding the Valley, a member of the Georgia Food Bank Association headquartered in Columbus, Ga., serves 17 counties in west Georgia and one in Alabama.
The APCU Muscogee County branch alone collected 974 pounds of food for Feeding the Valley.
“We’re just happy the branch could do its part to help members of our community who are struggling through these uncertain times,” said Susan Dupree, branch manager at the APCU location. “Our members in the Columbus area are so generous – we knew they wouldn’t miss an opportunity to help feed their neighbors.”
