BREA, Calif.–American First Credit Union (AFCU) donated more than $5,200 to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) through their virtual CHOC Walk program.
CHOC Walk in the Park presented by the Disneyland Resort is a yearly walk that focuses on raising funds to support health care programs, education, and research for children in Southern California.
The walk is normally held at the Disneyland Resort of Anaheim, but was cancelled due to COVID-19. However, AFCU associates still wanted to support CHOC. Instead, AFCU associates participated by creating their own walk across a variety of locations, including hiking trails, beaches, and treadmills. Additionally, AFCU hosted internal virtual fundraisers to raise money for the cause, including a silent auction and creating care packages.
“The virtual CHOC Walk was a great opportunity to assist children in our communities,” said Jon Shigematsu, CEO and President of American First “It allowed us to support a cause everyone can get behind and through safe social distancing practices.”
