ALPENA, Mich.–Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) has been awarded $10,000 by the Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) to purchase Orbit Retail Boards for the student-run branch that will be located inside Alpena High School (AHS).
Orbit Retail Boards are interactive digital signage technology that will display multiple products and services at one time allowing students and staff to interact with those products and services. The various displayed images can be linked with videos, pdfs to print-on-demand, audio messages, or linked to a specific URL/online application providing students and staff with easily accessible information.
With grant funding from the MCUF AAACU said it is excited to provide students and staff with an additional resource and advanced technology to help better educate and inform them about the products and services the credit union has to offer. This will be AAACU’s first student-run branch with this current technology allowing the credit union to provide more financial literacy highlighting key products and services that can better serve the more than 1,300 students and staff located inside AHS.
The AAACU student-run Wildcat Branch will be opening in 2020. The branch will be open five days a week for roughly 2 hours each day during student lunch hours.
Separately, Alpena Alcona Area CU partnered with the Alpena Police Departments for the 16th annual Holiday Shop with a Cop event.
The Holiday Shop with a Cop event was held at Walmart of Alpena and provided 12 children with a $100 Walmart gift card. The children are then paired with an Alpena police officer and a D.A.R.E role model to purchase gifts for themselves and family members. Once the children had selected their gifts, Walmart provided a gift-wrapping station to wrap all their presents and send the children home with a holiday care package.
