ST. PAUL, Minn.–Two Minnesotans were among the individuals inducted into the 2020 Credit House Hall of Leaders in Washington. Inductees exemplify the “people helping people” philosophy and have demonstrated a commitment to inspiring others in the credit union movement.
Inducted were:
Mahlon ‘Lon’ Krueger
Krueger began his career with Accentra Credit Union (formerly known as Hormel Employees Credit Union) in March of 1977 and quickly moved up though the accounting department to become the CFO.
In December of 1987 Krueger was named president/CEO and led the credit union through much success until his retirement in April 2008. Over the course of his tenure, Krueger’s vision and leadership saw the credit union grow from $44 million in total assets to $100 million, according to the Minnesota Credit Union Network.
During his career, Krueger was active in the credit union industry on a state and national level, including his leadership on the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s Political Involvement Committee. “His passion for credit unions was evident in everything that he did,” the MnCUN said. “Lon was not only a leader in his community, he inspired credit unions throughout southern Minnesota to actively embody the credit union philosophy of people helping people.”
Roxanne Jensen
Jensen started at Hoyt Lakes Community Credit Union in 1985 as a teller and progressed through many titles while at the credit union. In 2005, she joined Embarrass Vermillion Federal Credit Union and advanced to become president/CEO in 2016. As president/CEO, Jensen is dedicated to the growth of Embarrass Vermillion and the support of her employees, according to the MnCUN.
Jensen has been an active advocate for northern Minnesota credit unions at the state capitol and Washington She served on the Minnesota Credit Union Network Foundation’s CU4Kids Committee from 2006 to 2017, and currently serves on the Network’s Election Committee. Through her outstanding efforts, she received the Minnesota Family Involvement Council’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year awards in 1989, 1990, 1993, and 1994.
In the community, Jensen serves on the board of the Aurora Chamber and actively involves the credit union in as many community activities as possible. Her dedication demonstrates her commitment to the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”
Aurora, Minn. Celebrates “Roxi Jensen” Day
In honor of her induction to the CU House Hall of Leaders, the mayor of Aurora, Minn. proclaimed Feb. 23 as “Roxi Jensen Day.”
The proclamation states: “Roxi Jensen is a true community leader whose work and services the city values and “the citizens of Aurora, Minn. applaud and appreciate all of the work and talents Roxi Jensen has contributed to our community for the past many years.”
