1st United Hosts School Supply Drive

PLEASANTON, Calif.– 1st United Credit Union wrapped up its annual school supply and backpack drive in support of Alternative Family Services and Alameda County Family Justice Center, raising $1,215 for the causes.

Combined with the Credit Union’s donation, proceeds totaled enough to provide more than 400 Alameda County students  with school supplies this year.

Due to COVID-19, 1st United modified this year’s effort. In lieu of collecting backpacks in their branches, they accepted monetary donations from staff, members, and community. Those funds were combined with the Credit Union’s contribution and used to purchase pre-packaged, COVID-friendly school supply kits for distribution to their community partners.

“Whether or not students return to the classroom this year, we know that students will still need school supplies,” said Greg Pulliam, chief administrative officer at 1st United Credit Union. “With the financial impact

Coronavirus has had on so many in our community, the need for help is greater than ever.”
