MADISON, Wis. – The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) has announced new online learning programs, while also being named to the National Registry of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Sponsors.
“We are pleased to expand our learning opportunities to include online programs, contributing to the professional development of our members and adding to the face-to-face educational programs offered thus far,” said Paul Treinen, World Council COO.
WOCCU said that through the partnership with eLeadership Academy interested participants can register for two online programs to “better equip today’s established and emerging leaders to reach the next level of effectiveness, productivity and leadership growth.”
The eight-week programs, eLEAD and eCOACH, both consist of blended learning through online reading, videos, self-assessments, webinars, discussion forums and assignments, according to WOCCU. Participants can participate in the courses anytime, anywhere convenient to their schedule. Upon completion of the courses, the participants will have developed concrete action plans to support their continued growth.

Named to CPE Sponsors
Separately, WOCCU said it has been named to the National Registry of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Sponsors, offered by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.
The status of a registered sponsor affirms the commitment to the delivery of high quality continuing professional education in compliance with the program requirements of the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, as well as the States on Standards for Continue Professional Education (CPE) programs published jointly by NASBA and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), WOCCU said.
“We can now provide continuing professional education credits for up to 15 Group Live (in-person) programs and we are excited to offer a maximum of 8.0 credits in Specialized Education for attendance at the 2018 World Credit Union Conference, as our first program,” said Brian Branch, World Council president and CEO. “World Council has now taken a step in strengthening our education and providing additional value for our attendees by becoming a certified sponsor of continuing professional education credits.”
According to WOCCU, many past conference attendees have self-reported attendance to other World Council learning programs for professional credits toward their respective professional certifications and have had to prove the value of the education on their own to earn those credits.
“As World Council’s first CPE certified program, requiring no advance preparation or prerequisites, the World Credit Union Conference strives to bring attendees up to date on the latest trends in the international cooperative movement,” WOCCU said. “Attendees of the conference will be able to select from top-class educational sessions on key topics such as fintech, cybersecurity, governance, customer journey, membership and more, all with the benefit of being pre-approved for CPE credits.”
Additionally, WOCCU noted the National Registry of CPE Sponsors mutual recognition agreements (MRA)with professional bodies in other countries, further supporting World Council’s commitment to professional development for its members.
The World Council registry membership is effective through March 1, 2019 and must be renewed annually. Registration for the World Credit Union Conference is currently open and can be completed here.
