GRAND RAPIDS, N.D.–University Federal Credit Union has selected Credit Union Student Choice to offer its members lending solutions for both private student loans and student loan refinance.
“University FCU has served the University of North Dakota community since 1937,” said Lacey Fetsch, CEO of University FCU. “With our roots in higher education, we are proud to offer solutions to help our members with fair-value funding for college as well as student loan repayment.”
The $44.6-million University FCU will offer in-school financing for undergraduate students, as well Student Choice’s refinance product for college graduates, according to the company.
“Working with the students, faculty and staff of UND gives us insight into the challenges many families have covering the rising costs of college,” Fetsch added. “After families have exhausted scholarships, grants, and federal student loans, they can now turn to their trusted, local credit union during this important journey.”
‘A Natural Fit’
“Partnering with university-based credit unions is a natural fit for Student Choice,” added Scott Patterson, President and CEO of Student Choice. “We help credit union members responsibly fund their higher education dreams at more than 2,000 colleges and universities; serving credit unions with established relationships on those campuses is a perfect match.”
Student Choice said it enables credit unions of all sizes to make private education loans that are held on their own balance sheet. Since launching in 2008, the CUSO has helped nearly 300 partner credit unions originate $3.7 billion in private education loans to more than 100,000 families.
