MADISON, Wis.—TruStage, CUNA Mutual Group’s consumer insurance brand, has awarded 20 Community Spark Awardsto recognize exemplary young people who are striving to improve their communities through volunteer and community service.
The TruStage Community Spark Awards were created to help the agency celebrate its major milestone of providing insurance protection to more than 20-million customers nationwide, the company said, adding, “TruStage recognizes how important it is for people to help protect their family’s future and the communities where they live.”
The winners included kids who volunteer to feed and clothe the less fortunate, provide recognition for veterans, increase opportunities for the disabled, and deliver school supplies to students in need. The stories of the 20 winners can be viewed at www.trustage.com/spark.
“It takes a special person to recognize at a young age that they have the power to make the world a better place,” said Susan Sachatello, president, TruStage. “The Community Spark Awards allow us to shine a spotlight on inspiring young leaders who are helping their community build a brighter future.”
How Process Worked
Parents, guardians, relatives, teachers and friends were invited to nominate a child age 17 or younger who demonstrates a strong spirit, commitment and dedication to giving back to their own community. The winners were selected by a panel of their peers from the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, serving Madison, Wis.
“As a strong advocate for credit unions, TruStage also recognized 20 exceptional customer credit unions by donating $1,000 to DonorsChoose.orgfor each to give to a local school. Working alongside nearly 4,000 credit unions, TruStage helps credit unions support the financial stability of families in their communities,” the company said.
