DES MOINES, Iowa–TMG CEO Shazia Manus has been named a finalist for the Inspiring Women Of Iowa Confidence Award.
“Through her inspiring journey from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Des Moines, Iowa, Shazia Manus has proven that, driven by confidence, the improbable can be done,” stated TMG.
“As women leaders, it is crucial to have confidence in our abilities to facilitate success,” Manus said. Now leader of the global payments processor TMG, Manus has established herself as an influential female leader and an advocate for others, the company said.
Manus was recently named a finalist for the Inspiring Women of Iowa event’s Confidence Award. The event celebrates influential women in Iowa, with proceeds going to the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. The event’s awards of Confidence, Courage and Character honor women of every age, background and career level who demonstrate the particular characteristics many girls develop while in Girl Scouts. Award recipients will be announced during an event at the Des Moines Downtown Marriott on Wednesday, April 5.
“Hearing Shazia talk so candidly about what it has taken for her to persevere against overwhelming odds is humbling, and at the same time absolutely inspirational,” said Patrick Jury, CEO and chairman of TMG parent company Affiliates Management Company and CUNA board chairman. “She compelled each of us...to consider how we can reshape our own paths and how we can do the same for others.”
TMG said that throughout her life’s journey, Manus has learned to adapt, course-correct and forge ahead. She is a strong advocate for the advancement of women in business, serving on the World Council of Credit Unions’ Global Women’s Leadership Network, mentoring several aspiring leaders and readily sharing her story to inspire others.
The Confidence Award is given to a woman who continues to demonstrate confidence, with a positive state of mind that guides her steps and actions. According to the award committee, confidence comes from feelings of well-being, acceptance of her body and mind and belief in her own ability, skills and experience.
