LEVERAGE Rolls Out New Rewards Program; Deeper Relationships Is Goal

BIRMINGHAM, Ala./TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—To help credit unions build deeper relationships with members, LEVERAGE has introduced a new rewards  program that not only can be tied to credit and debit cards, it can link with just about any other CU product or service.

LEVERAGE, an affiliate of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates, said the objective is to give credit unions a great deal of flexibility in how they use rewards to strengthen ties with members.

Lisa Burroughs, LEVERAGE COO, said being able to tie rewards to multiple services and offerings allows CUs to use the incentive to meet more strategic objectives.

“Maybe the credit union wants to do more than just give cash back for card usage,” she said. “Maybe they want to tie rewards to lending, checking, or e-service usage. They can do those things and more with our new rewards program.”

Called LEVERAGE Rewards, members redeem points for typical rewards items, such as merchandise, travel, and gift cards. Burroughs said LEVERAGE will also work with credit unions to tie the program to local merchants.

When tying the program to plastic, Burroughs said that it makes no difference what card processor the credit union is working with.

“It’s processor agnostic,” said Burroughs. “This is good for credit unions that may feel a little boxed in by having to only use their processor’s rewards program. This gives them an alternative.”

Burroughs said LEVERAGE Rewards is a valuable program that enhances member loyalty, increases transaction volume, and even incentivizes employees—as the program can be tied to internal objectives as well.

LEVAREGE conducted research that shows credit unions are looking for robust rewards programs.

“We set out to find a rewards program that was unique and offered a multitude of different scenarios,” said LEVERAGE CEO Patrick La Pine.
