BOCA RATON, Fla.-– IWS Acquisition Corp., a provider of after-market Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA) programs to credit union members, provided corporate sponsorship to the 2nd annual south Florida Association for Corporate Growth’s (ACG) Veterans Charity Golf Classic.
The tournament benefitted the Florida Veterans Foundation by serving homeless military veterans in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. During the Foundation’s three-day “STAND DOWN,” 255 homeless veterans were provided with shelter, meals, clothing, job and legal assistance.
“IWS is proud to represent the military-affiliated credit union community in south Florida in this special effort,” said Jim Hawk, Jr., President and CEO. “As a Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) Preferred Partner for more than 15 years, we are intimately familiar with the financial well-being needs of our nation’s veterans and their families. We care deeply about those who have sacrificed so much for our country, and it is truly our honor and privilege to support the Foundation’s efforts to combat veterans’ homelessness and unemployment. Its mission aligns perfectly with the ‘people helping people’ philosophy that is the hallmark of the credit union community we serve.”
This year’s classic raised more than $62,000 – a 50 percent increase over 2014 – making the ACG’s Veterans Charity Golf Classic the largest single donor to this year’s STAND DOWN initiative. In addition to shelter, meals and clothing, 77 veterans received job placement assistance and 45 received $32,540 in waived fines, fees and court costs thanks to the Veterans Court support.
