CHICAGO–Eight teams, including one racing for charity, competed here to grab as much merchandise as they could in 60 seconds as part of PSCU’s annual Credit Union Magic Minute program.
The fifth annual Magic Minute program was designed to help PSCU’s member-owner credit unions build even tighter relationships with their members, according to the CUSO. The eight won an all-expenses-paid trip to Chicago earlier this month, along with an average of $5,000 in shopping spree prizes.
PSCU teamed up with Hinda Incentives — the longtime merchandise fulfillment partner for its CURewards program — on the sweepstakes again this year.
“In addition to offering a no-cost opportunity to reward lucky credit union members with a once-in-a-lifetime shopping experience, the sweepstakes increases interchange revenue,” PSCU said. “Member-owner credit unions that participate in PSCU’s reward program are automatically enrolled in the sweepstakes. Last year, participating credit unions saw an average lift of $5 per credit member and $63 more per month on debit cards.”
Seven winners were selected in random drawings held during the sweepstakes period from Apple Federal Credit Union (Fairfax, Va.), BCU (Vernon Hills, Ill.), Credit Union of America (Wichita, Kan.), OneAZ Credit Union (Phoenix, Ariz.), OnPoint Community Credit Union (Portland, Ore.), Truity Credit Union (Bartlesville, Okla.) and WESTconsin Credit Union (Menomonie, Wis.). Each winner brought a guest of his or her choosing to Chicago to take part in the festivities. Each team loaded up an average of $5,000 worth of items, including MacBook Air computers, TVs, game systems, cookware, Go-Pro cameras and iPads.
The participating credit union with the highest sweepstakes participation, along with demonstrating its marketing efforts to promote the campaign, was selected to run for a non-profit of its choice. Citadel Federal Credit Union in Exton, Penn. shared its place at the Magic Minute starting line with the United Way of Lancaster County. All of the items collected will help the United Way improve the lives of those in need in the Lancaster County area.
“The Credit Union Magic Minute is a fun, memorable way to help our Member-Owner credit unions build member loyalty and engagement and keep their card top-of-wallet during the important holiday shopping season,” said Annie Cox, VP of Loyalty Solutions for PSCU, in a statement. “Creating a magical experience for members, along with the opportunity to give back to a non-profit during this special time of the year, is icing on the cake for us.”
