Catalyst Joins With CU Marketers For Promo Around ‘Checking With Benefits’

PLANO, Texas–Catalyst Corporate FCU is reporting it has joined forces with members of the Cornerstone Marketing/Business Development Council to create turnkey marketing materials for Catalyst Corporate's “Checking with Benefits” program.  The Cornerstone Marketing/Business Development Council is part of the Cornerstone CU League, which serves Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

According to Catalyst, Checking with Benefits is a rewards program that can make a credit union’s checking accounts more attractive to members and potential members, strengthen member engagement with the credit union and generate fee income. The program revolves around a mobile app, called BaZing, that provides retail discounts, cell phone protection and identity theft protection among its many benefits, Catalyst said.

The collaboration has yielded six themed campaigns:

  • Check it Out
  • Pow! Wham! BaZing!
  • Protect. Save. Reward.
  • Local Love
  • Discover the Deals
  • Benefits and Beyond

Catalyst reported that each campaign touts the benefits of the program through a three-part email series, newsletter article, poster, postcard, pre-written blog and social media posts, using compelling visuals and creative copy. Campaigns will be available to all credit unions using the Checking with Benefits service. Credit unions with limited marketing resources will find these pre-packaged, customizable kits especially advantageous, the corporate said.

“It has been beneficial to see what other marketers liked or disliked in creative,” said council member Kelley Perkins, Director of Marketing at GENCO Federal Credit Union. “Each viewpoint offered additional meaning and perspective. I was able to learn from my peers and get a broader perspective on marketing to credit union members.”

The Marketing Council, comprised of credit union professionals, allows members to share best practices and build relationships with individuals that face the same workday challenges, Catalyst said. Council members contributing to the Checking with Benefits campaign development include Perkins, Shellye Carpenter, Business Development Director at MemberSource Credit Union; Shana Lewis, Community Outreach Specialist at True Sky Credit Union; and Erayne Hill, Vice President of Marketing at Unity One Credit Union.

As a way to recognize the council and its contributions, Catalyst Corporate said it is providing a scholarship to the 2016 Cornerstone Marketing and Business Development Conference, Nov. 15-17 in Fort Worth, Texas. Additional details about the campaigns will be unveiled during the conference and made available to Catalyst Corporate members in late November, Catalyst said.
