Case Study Details Use of CU*Base In Creating Charitable Programs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Earnings Edge, the solutions and earnings division of the cooperative CUSO CU*Answers, has published a case study in cooperation with $30-million Element Federal Credit Union in Charleston, W.V., that details the use of CU*BASE in creating charitable programs. In particular, the case study focuses on Element’s SwipeIt For Good campaign and how they used the data processing platform to implement and track the program.

The program has two primary goals: get credit union members excited about supporting their favorite charities and to engage local charities to work with Element towards their mutual benefit. Every time a member uses their debit card online or at a retailer, the credit union gives $0.05 per swipe to a local charity at no expense to the member. Using CU*BASE, the credit union is able to easily track participating individuals and determine how many transactions there were monthly, the company said.

“This is yet another way that we walk the talk as a cooperative. Earnings Edge created this solution with Linda Bodie and her team at Element, and now we think other credit unions can learn from this case study and implement their own programs,” said Geoff Johnson, CU*Answers COO
