MADISON, Wis.— CUES has announced that its popular Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate Program, which is held partnership with Cornell University, will returning March 15 - June 20, 2023.
As institutions shift to embrace environmental, social, and governance (ESG) philosophies in their business plans, CUES said the program will help credit unions shore up the social aspect of ESG by keeping a focus on DEI efforts, creating a “truly aware and inclusive work culture” along the way.
“DEI efforts are most effective when led from the top down, and embraced by all leaders—including those in the c-suite, executives and board members,” said Christopher Stevenson, SVP/chief learning officer. “This helps to ensure everyone is on the same page when moving forward with a cultural shift.”
According to CUES, participants in the program explore the perceptual, institutional, and psychological processes that impact the ways people interact with each other, and examine employee engagement, interventions surrounding unconscious bias, and specific diversity and inclusion strategies.
‘Sense of Belonging’
“A sense of belonging is vital to the health of any organization, to keep employees happy and help them flourish in their professional lives. As such, organizations should have DEI baked right into their goals to keep these efforts top of mind—and not focus on them solely during times of crisis,” said Stevenson.
CUES said attendees will learn directly from Michelle Duguid, associate dean of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, at Cornell’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, and make new connections as they learn about and discuss these important topics with colleagues in a convenient online format.
“Feedback we’ve received from prior attendees demonstrates a real need for this program, which focuses on culture as opposed to compliance and offers easily implementable takeaways,” said Stevenson.
Developed for Credit Unions
All CUES/eCornell certificate courses were developed specifically for the credit union industry, offer online instruction directly from Cornell University faculty, and are available only from CUES, the organization said
In addition to the DEI course, the CUES Advanced Management Certificate Program for high-potential employees and emerging leaders starts July 11, 2023.
