CU Student Choice Makes Investment in Edmit

WASHINGTON–Credit Union Student Choice, a provider of  higher education financing solutions, said it has made a “significant investment” into its relationship with Edmit, an emerging college advising company.

As a result, Student Choice said its partner credit unions and their members will now have free access to Edmit’s “innovative college planning and selection tools that help students and families make smarter financial decisions about college and student debt.”

“Student Choice is thrilled that our multi-year investment into the Edmit relationship will allow us to make this innovative platform free to hundreds of credit unions and millions of members,” said Scott Patterson, president and CEO of Credit Union Student Choice. “For many students and families, choosing a college is a very emotional journey. All too often, their decisions are based on anecdotal or incomplete information as opposed to a data-driven approach where the buyer fully understands the costs and likely outcomes. Edmit provides greater transparency in the process, helping families make responsible choices and avoid excessive debt, and giving credit unions an incredibly powerful way to support their members’ long-term financial wellness.”

According to CU Student Choice, Edmit was founded by recognized university leaders and provides personalized insights and advice to help families make smarter college choices, leading to less debt and better earnings outcomes.

‘Best Meet Their Needs’

“By providing basic information related to household income, grades, and test scores, students and families receive expert advice and personalized recommendations on the colleges that best meet their needs, both financially and academically,” CU Student Choice said.

The company said additional benefits of the Edmit platform include side-by-side comparison tools and access to expert professional guidance.

Through the partnership, Student Choice said its partner credit unions will be provided with a branded, online platform through which the credit unions’ members will gain free access to Edmit’s innovative college planning and selection tools. Credit unions that are not partnered with Student Choice may still gain access to the Edmit platform by paying an annual license fee, the company said.
