CU*Answers Adds Analytics Team; Holds Annual Meeting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–A new analytics offering, the Asterisk Intelligence team has been added CU*Answers’ Management Services group. The Asterisk Intelligence team has already launched an online store offering 15+ analytic solutions, with more on schedule to be added in the coming weeks, the company said.

“Their initial work with data warehousing is currently comprised of intense development sessions in preparation for two brand new data warehouse solutions, the first of which will launch November 2017,” CU*Answers said. “CU*Answers’ expansion of data warehouse strategies with new storage, structure, and customization options represents one of the most aggressive approaches on the market today from a core processor in support of credit union-directed database management and of third party data exchanges.”

The new team is being led by Keegan Daniel, vice president of Professional Services, a role in which he has already successfully developed the Earnings Edge brand at CU*Answers, the company said. He will continue to manage the Earnings Edge suite of solutions while bringing his experience and business skills to the new Asterisk Intelligence team.

“I look forward to demonstrating the value of data as this team goes to work for credit unions as a bench of data analyst experts,” said Keegan. “A key element of our team’s vision is to support credit union efforts to establish their own business intelligence teams, develop their data strategies, and navigate the increasing market for external data warehouses.”

Meanwhile, CU*Answers held its 2017 Annual Leadership Conference and Stockholders Meeting, where the theme was “It’s a Cooperative Thing: Cooperatives Rock for Being More Than Just a Brand.” The day started with a celebration of the 7 Cooperative Principles, and the agenda for the day revolved around how the cooperative business design gives both the CUSO and its credit unions a unique cooperative advantage. Key topics on the agenda included Overwhelming Our Retail Cultures, Believing that Everyone is a Developer, and Manufacturing Insight and Inspiring Data Awareness as a Currency.

The day-long conference was attended by 207 leaders from 95 credit unions, along with representatives from 30 vendors and 44 internal staff. This year, CEO Randy Karnes was joined on stage by nearly a dozen other CU*Answers leaders in the areas of software development and network infrastructure, as well as participants from the 2016-2017 “What Makes Data Valuable?” and “Building Solutions in a Cooperative” Boot Camp focus groups.

At a separate session, CU*Answers stockholders met for the annual board member election and to hear a recap of the CUSO’s financial position and projections for the fiscal year. Representatives from 53 of the CUSO’s 126 owner credit unions attended the evening stockholders meeting, with many more sending their vote electronically or by proxy.
