RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – CO-OP Financial Services has announced a new board member, as well as its new board executive committee.
Rudy Pereira, president/CEO of Premier America Credit Union of Chatsworth, Calif., has joined the CO-OP board after being elected to a three-year term during the company’s annual meeting.
Pereira has been with Premier America CU since 2017, and prior to that was president/CEO of Royal CU of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, since 2011.
Two other credit unions leaders were reelected to three-year terms on the board during the shareholders meeting, including Benson Porter, president/CEO of BECU of Tukwila, Wash., to a third three-year term; and Robert Chavez, president/CEO of Sandia Laboratory FCU of Albuquerque, N.M, to a second three-year term.
“I congratulate Rudy on his election to the CO-OP board of directors, and look forward to working with him and our two newly reelected board members in the oversight of our great cooperative,” said Chuck Purvis, president/CEO of Coastal FCU of Raleigh, N.C.
In the board’s organizational meeting immediately following the shareholder event, Purvis was reelected by his fellow CO-OP board members to a second year as CO-OP’s chairperson. Also reelected were Porter to vice chairperson, and Joan Opp to treasurer/secretary. Opp is president/CEO of Stanford FCU of Palo Alto, Calif.
Chairperson’s Report
During the shareholders meeting, which was conducted “virtually,” Purvis stated as part of the Chairperson’s Report, “The long-term goals set by CO-OP’s board and management team are more relevant than ever as we are seeing an acceleration to digital. Prior to COVID – for nearly four years – CO-OP has been committed to the digital transformation of its own workforce and infrastructure, for the benefit of its client credit unions. CO-OP’s financial health is absolutely robust, and this reinvestment is part of our long-term strategy to keep it that way, while maintaining the company’s critical role in the overall health of the credit union movement.”
Also serving on the CO-OP’s Board: Jackie Buchanan, president/CEO of Genisys CU, Auburn Hills, Mich.; Wayne Grosse, president/CEO of Bethpage FCU, Bethpage, N.Y.; John Janclaes, president/CEO of Partners FCU, Burbank, Calif.; Theresa Mann, chief risk officer of NASA FCU, Upper Marlboro, Md.; and Todd Marksberry, president/CEO of Canvas CU, Lone Tree, Colo.
