In Fiji, CU Reports Strong Year, Pays 5% Dividend

SUVA, Fiji-- Service Worker Credit Union is reporting an increase in total income for the year ending June 30, 2015.

The credit union’s secretary and treasurer, Rajeshwar Singh, shared the news during SWCU’s annual general meeting here.

The credit union reported that for the year ending June 30 it had $666,160 in income, an increase of $115,178 over the same period last year.

"The increase is attributed to the increase in the interest income," Singh told local media. "The Service Worker Credit Union has been instrumental during the hard times faced by our members. The rising cost of living has adversely affected our members' ability to properly cater for the family needs."

The  1,800-member credit union announced at the meeting it will pay a 5% dividend on shares.
