Chinese Delegation Tours SECU

RALEIGH, N.C. – A delegation of Haixia banking executives from the Fujian Province of China visited State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) to gain insight into SECU’s cooperative structure and service philosophy.   Branch operations, deposit and loan products, and the member-funded SECU Foundation were some of the discussion highlights.  The credit union visit was part of the group’s 13-day tour through the eastern United States.

Founded in December 1996, Fujian Haixia Bank is one of China’s best performing financial institutions with a guiding principle of “people first,” according to SECU. “ Their mission is for economic prosperity in the Fujian Province and to be a leader industrywide with reference to prominent investment value,” SECU said.

The 25-member delegation represented various positions within the Fujian Haixia Bank’s divisions and branches.

“This is the fourth occasion in eight years that State Employees’ Credit Union has hosted a Chinese delegation,” said SECU Chairman Jo Anne Sanford. “These visits provide SECU with an excellent opportunity to reach out globally to others in the financial industry to share the Credit Union’s consumer-focused strategies and philosophy. We were pleased to speak with the Fujian Haixia Banking Delegation and hope they found the afternoon to be informative and beneficial.”
