DRAPERSTOWN, Northern Ireland–A credit union here has joined with a housing association and a community group to join efforts here to form buying clubs for home heating oil.
Bryson Energy has joined with community groups and Ballinascreen Credit Union to form the Ballinascreen Community Oil Buying Club.
Funded by the Housing Executive and managed by Bryson Energy, the club is open is open to all - Housing Executive tenants, owner-occupiers, housing association tenants and those who privately rent.
“Oil buying clubs offer people the opportunity to join with others in buying their home heating oil in bulk, achieving a better price than smaller, more costly refills,” said Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey. “This is particularly useful in rural areas where there is a heavy dependence on oil.”
It is anticipated the oil buying club will deliver savings of approximately 10%.
