LAS VEGAS–Leadership consultant and author John Spence addressed CUSOs and credit unions last week as part of NACUSO’s annual meeting, and recommended credit union execs give these three books on culture a try.
Spence, who said he reads more than 100 books each year, recommended:
- The Carrot Principle: How the Best Managers Use Recognition to Engage Their People, Retain Talent, and Accelerate Performance, by Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton.
- The Orange Revolution: How One Great Team Can Transform An Entire Organization, also by Gostick and Elton.
- WHO, by Geoff Smart and Randy Street.
Of WHO, Spence said, “It’s the single best book I’ve ever read on hiring, and is essential to getting top talent. I would demand your HR team all read WHO. It would be my Bible of hiring.”
