CEO Shares Perspective on CU 'DNA'

HENDERSON, Nev.–Credit unions are much more than just a branch or a building in a community, they are a “pillar,” according to one person.

Speaking as part of the Underground Chat series, Todd Lane president/CEO of California Coast Credit Union shared his insights during an interview by Susan Mitchell, CEO of Mitchell, Stankovic & Associates and Founder of the Underground.

“Our initiatives are part of our DNA. They aren’t a one and done, they are part of who we are,” said Lane.

Among the other observations shared by Lane for turning ideas into action:

  • Build Relationships. Invest in small businesses. Have a drive-thru turkey party for your employees. Care about your members well-being.
  • DEI is Not a Strategy. Diversity, equity and inclusion must be at the core of your culture, not a strategic initiative that changes from year to year

The Underground Chat with Lane can be viewed here. In addition, credit unions can also watch the Underground Collision: Blinding Flash of the Obvious with Todd Lane and 17 other industry throught leaders discussing the divide, human wellbeing and how credit unions can lead through this change.
